Back in December 2024, members of the DAPPLE team went to the Seattle Club Conference. The conference was held in London (not Seattle!) on 12-13 December by King’s College London. The Seattle Club Conference is the premier UK-based conference for intellectual and developmental disability research. This year’s conference themes were health inequalities and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and inclusive research with keynote presentations by Professor Andre Strydom from King’s College London and Professor Jan Walmsley from The Open University.
We had two DAPPLE posters at the conference: One on employing researchers with a learning disability at a university and one on what DAPPLE is all about. Posters are a fun and bite-size way of sharing your research. You print out your poster in a big size such as A0 or A1, and then you stand by it at the conference to talk to others about it. Your poster should look great and really invite people to take a closer look.
Here are our two posters...

These were the very first posters about DAPPLE – and also our first conference together.
And do you know what? BOTH posters won poster prizes!
The poster on employing researchers with a learning disability won Best Poster 1st Prize and the DAPPLE poster came in 3rd. DAPPLE got off to a good start!
